Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
Yes. A valid referral from your GP or another specialist is required to claim any available Medicare rebate. Referrals from GPs are usually valid for 12 months, while specialist referrals are typically valid for 3 months unless otherwise specified.
Is this a private billing practice?
Yes. This is a private billing practice, and consultation fees apply. Medicare rebates are available for eligible consultations when a valid referral is provided. Our reception staff can provide current fee information at the time of booking.
Will I receive a Medicare rebate?
Most consultations and many procedures attract a Medicare rebate if you have a valid referral. The out-of-pocket cost (gap payment) varies depending on the type and complexity of the consultation or procedure.

What happens if I need surgery?
If surgery is recommended, you will receive detailed information regarding the procedure, expected benefits, risks, recovery time, and available alternatives. You will also be provided with an estimate of surgical fees, hospital fees, and anaesthetic fees so you can make an informed decision.
Are surgical costs covered by private health insurance?
If you hold appropriate private health insurance with hospital cover, part of the hospital and medical costs may be covered. However, depending on your insurance policy, excess payments and gap fees may still apply. We recommend contacting your insurer to confirm your level of cover.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Please bring your referral, any relevant test results, imaging reports, medication list, and your private health insurance details (if applicable). Arriving a few minutes early helps ensure adequate time for registration.
What if I need urgent advice after surgery?
You will be provided with post-operative instructions and contact details for urgent concerns. If you experience severe pain, heavy bleeding, fever, or any urgent symptoms, you should seek immediate medical attention or attend the nearest emergency department.
Can I discuss more than one issue during my consultation?
Yes. However, complex or multiple concerns may require a longer consultation. Please inform reception when booking so adequate time can be allocated.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that at least 24–48 hours’ notice be provided for cancellations or appointment changes. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a cancellation fee.
How long is the recovery after pelvic floor or gynaecological surgery?
Recovery time varies depending on the procedure. Minor procedures may require only a few days of recovery, while major pelvic reconstructive surgery may require several weeks. Detailed recovery instructions will be provided prior to surgery.
